Greetings! You should be happy about all this rain – happy that it isn’t 28 degrees outside! Can you imagine how we would cope with all that snow? So, just be thankful. And, try to squeeze in your miles between rain drops. It is turning out to be another wet week.
Cross Your Fingers
The GVWC t-shirts are to be delivered this Friday, so I will distribute them on Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed that Nike and the screen printer comes through. I will send an email Friday night with confirmation. Please, try to get to Schiller around 7:45am, so I can distribute them.
Can’t Get Out to Walk?
Are you frustrated about not being able to walk outside with all this rain, particularly if you are training for a race? Well, here is something I do with my weekly exercise schedule to help keep me from getting frazzled about missing exercise days – I build flexibility into my weekly schedule. How do I do that? Well, I try to work out 5 days a week, leaving Mondays and Fridays as recovery days – no exercise. I also use those two days as exercise float days. For example, yesterday (Sunday), I had a couple commitments and could not walk. No sweat, I just went out today (Monday, my scheduled off day) and did my miles. Essentially, I just swapped recovery and exercise days. So, I am back on track. No muss, no fuss. Ahhh, I am so calm right now I can’t stand it…
Easy, Healthy, 400 Calorie Meals – 10 Minutes or Less!
Ok, this is my downfall – cooking! Let’s just say if it wasn’t for Andrea, I’d probably starve to death or weigh 300 pounds from fast food. But, here is an article from the 12 Minute Athlete Blog that provides six healthy, yummy looking, and easy to make meals in 10 minutes or less. They provide a good balance between, protein, carbohydrates and fats. You can even pull this together as a snack or pre or post workout meal. Bon appetite!
Reminder – August 1 – Walking Group Community Walk
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, August 1, as the GVWC will be hosting other walking clubs from around Columbus – Buckeye Striders, New Albany Walking Club, and the Gahanna Get Moving Team. We will have a 3-mile and 5-mile route. Please feel free to bring guests. We are making it a community event. Second Sole will be providing water and Gatorade. We will also be meeting at Winans afterwards (one block from the park) for some great coffee and conversation. Details in the next couple weeks.
Motivation of the Week
Hope to see you all Saturday with t-shirts! You all have a happy and safe Fourth of July. And as always, whatever you do, finish strong!
